According to USA Today, 1 out of 5 drivers could not pass the DMV written test if they took it today. Does this surprise anyone? No? That’s about what I figured. Anyway, here’s the article:

Well today was a first!

In the middle of my New Employee training class, we heard “Oh My God!” come from my boss’ office. Come to find out, she just looked out the window and saw a van plow right into her car! Apparently, it’s not even safe to park in the employee parking lot anymore.

The driver apparently dropped his wallet and was reaching down in an attempt to pick it up. He had just paid for his registration renewal and was coming out of the drive through lane. In reaching for his wallet, he mashed the gas then proceeded to ram into the driver side of Mary’s BMW. The driver was accelerating so hard that witnesses said smoke was pluming from his tires!

So not only did he total my boss’s car, but he hit it with such force it plowed into the car next to it too. And that car belonged to another employee (Debbie). Picture this. Debbie was just getting out of her car after returning from lunch. Thank God, she saw the car coming and dove back into her car before it struck. She could have been pinned between the cars, or worse. When help arrived, Debbie was sitting down in the floorboards, narrowly having escaped what would have been a fatal accident.

Debbie was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, as was the driver. It’s now an hour later and the fire department has yet to separate the drier’s car and my boss’s car!!

Maybe now you’ll understand when I say “you never know what to expect in this job”.
